Job description

G.S. Broadcast Technical Services Ltd. is seeking a motivated and independent individual to fulfill the role of Broadcast Technician.  The successful candidate will be maintaining various radio and television studio and transmitter facilities in the GTA/Southern Ontario area.

Duties:

- Maintenance, repair and installation of audio and AM, FM and TV transmission equipment, computer equipment and associated servers and networks

- Maintenance of AoIP audio distribution systems (Wheatstone/Axia)

- Maintainenace of radio automation, production and other software systems.

- Repair, maintenance and trouble shooting of satellite equipment

- Develop and maintain technical records and drawings

- May be required to climb, descend and/or work on a scaffolding, tower, pole or side of a building, may be required to work in restricted or close quarters

- Minor building repairs

- Assist with scheduled maintenance of studio and transmitter site emergency power, HVAC units, towers, etc.

- Flexibility with schedule required in response to emergency repair needs

- 24-hour On-Call response to emergencies

 

Qualifications:

- Degree or Diploma in Electronics, Broadcast Technology or related course of study or equivalent experience

- Minimum of 3-5 years experience

- Knowledge and experience with FM and AM transmission systems

- Knowledge and experience with computer hardware, software and Local Area Networks

- Knowledge and experience with telecom systems

- Knowledge and experience with setup and maintenance of broadcast systems

- Advanced user of Microsoft Excel and AutoCAD

- Able to use Microsoft Office suite, Visio and Microsoft Project

- Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently

- Possess a valid driver’s licence with unrestricted access to a vehicle

- Strong proficiency using hand and power tools including, but not limited to, cordless drills, power saws, wire cutters, strippers, screwdrivers and soldering iron

- Ability to work with minimal support as part of a cooperative team in a fast paced environment

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Must be physically fit and able to carry out all duties and responsibilities safely and independently

- Excellent English written and oral communication skills

- Ability to work with minimal supervision and/or frequently un-supervised

Project Broadcast Technician

Job description

G.S. Broadcast Technical Services Ltd. is seeking a Project Technician to join our team.  The successful candidate will assist with the planning, design and implementation of broadcast studio and transmitter projects across Canada.  We are looking for a mature individual who can work independently and as part of a team.

Duties:

- Responsible for design work including wire lists, schematics, functionals and floor plans

- Design, set-up and troubleshoot AC & DC logic circuit designs

- Installation and commission of broadcast equipment including transmitters, broadcast audio consoles and audio servers 

- Setup of Windows-based computer networks

- Configuration and installation of computers and other devices on a network

- Produce request for quotations for broadcast equipment

- Generate material and supply order lists

- Organize incoming shipments, supplies and tools within a local warehouse facility

- May be required to climb, descend and/or work on a scaffolding, tower, pole or side of a building, may be required to work in restricted or close quarters
